Herbs are wild or cultivated green plants. They give added value to food as they bring together the taste, flavour and the representation of food on the plate. They are also medicinal plants and can therefore be used in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.
The substances beneficial for people can most commonly be found in the green leaves of herbs, but are less common in the stems, blossoms and roots. Herbs have a nice smell, however some produce a pleasant smell only after we touch them. Using aromatic herbs calms us down, relaxes us, lifts our mood and gives inspiration.
Fragrant herbs have always had an important role in the history of humankind. They were used in religious ceremonies, family and folk festivities, to adorn the winners and on other occasions.
